We heard Maxine Waters last week ( or maybe 2 wks ago) threaten to "take you over" while she was grilling the oil company executives.  Who's her hero, Hugo Chavez?  How long to you think it would take the Liberal Congress (I'm not leaving out the Senate or Republicans) to run it into the financial toilet like they have Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare and Public Education.  Now they want to take over the Medical practice and the oil production in the US.  Let's compare the oil companies' profits with the state and federal fuel taxes since 1977.

    From the Tax Foundation research, the following was documented
         "Federal and state taxes on gasoline production and imports have been climbing steadily since the late 1970s and now total roughly $58.4 billion. Due in part to substantial hikes in the federal gasoline excise tax in 1983, 1990, and 1993, annual tax revenues have continued to grow. Since 1977, governments collected more than $1.34 trillion, after adjusting for inflation, in gasoline tax revenues—more than twice the amount of domestic profits earned by major U.S. oil companies during the same period:"

                                


The chart is pretty self explanatory as you see.  The oil industry profits are ALL THE DOMESTIC PROFITS BY ALL THE OIL COMPANIES IN THE US.
The congresses involved in the hiking of the taxes, didn't have to hire geologists, do seismic testing, invest millions in drilling wells to see if any oil was where they thought, build rigs to tow out to sea to check for oil offshore (at a cost of billions each), build and operate any refineries, do any marketing or delivery........only extort $.25 a gallon for each gallon produced.  Their total 1.34 trillion dollars was all profit.  giving them control of the oil companies would surely kill the oil company profits, seems that everything the federal extortion experts touch goes to hell in a hand basket. 
     Who next are they going to tax more heavily to make up for their deficit spending when they get into oil?  Look out Microsoft, Dell, Apple...you guys have some hardware and lots of software that you only have to write once and then sell millions of clones......more excessive profits to take....can you see Maxine Waters and Charles Schumer running an oil company or computer company?

You people that think Obama is going to do anything less than socialize as much of the US as he can to Kill capitalism, need to look at he and his inner circle of friends and advisors.  Not that McCain is much better.
